HKBU to present Distinguished Alumni Award to Ronnie Cheng, Eddie Chui, Kitty Lun and Patrick Siu

浸大頒發第五屆傑出校友獎 嘉許四位校友鄭基恩、崔紹漢、倫潔瑩和蕭潮順

HKBU today (30 January) announced it will present its fifth Distinguished Alumni Award to four outstanding alumni; they are Mr Ronnie Cheng Kay-yen (鄭基恩) (Education Studies), Dr Eddie Chui Shiu-hon (崔紹漢) (Chemistry, Chinese Medicine), Ms Kitty Lun Kit-ying (倫潔瑩) (Communication) and Mr Patrick Siu Chiu-shun (蕭潮順) (Geography, Communication).

The Award has been established not only to recognise the outstanding business, professional or scholastic achievements of the Award recipients and their services and contributions to the University and society, but also to motivate current students to learn from their valuable experience and success. An award presentation ceremony will be held in March.

This year, the Selection Committee for the award was chaired by Mr Cheng Yan-kee, Chairman of the Council and the Court of HKBU, and members included Professor Roland Chin, President and Vice-Chancellor of HKBU, Ms Quince Chong, Chief Corporate Development Officer of CLP Power Hong Kong Limited, Mr Lester Garson Huang, Co-Chairman of PC Woo & Co and Ms Viola Man, Executive Director of PuraPharm Corporation Limited.

Brief introduction of Distinguished Alumni Award recipients

Mr Ronnie Cheng (Education Studies)
Mr Ronnie Cheng is currently Headmaster of Diocesan Boys’ School. He obtained a Postgraduate Diploma in Education at Hong Kong Baptist University. He also holds a Bachelor’s degree from Oklahoma Baptist University in the US, a Master’s degree in Music from The University of Illinois and a Master’s degree in Education from The University of Hong Kong.

Mr Cheng upholds his belief in developing holistic excellence built upon the Christian faith and nurturing brilliant students by discovering their unique calling. He advocates the combining of international and local pedagogies to lead students to develop initiatives with focus on leadership training, life planning, Christian faith and character building.

Before promotion to headship, Mr Cheng taught English and Music. Under his leadership in the capacity of Head of Music, the school ensembles won international accolades including world championships and artistic awards.Mr Cheng serves as Member of the Department of Education Studies Advisory Committee of HKBU, Chairman of the Grant Schools Council, Council Member of Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts, Council Member of Diocesan Girls’ School, Member of Hong Kong Jockey Club Music Children Steering Committee, Vice-Chairman of Hong Kong Tennis Association and Steering Committee Member of Hong Kong Scholarship for Excellence Scheme.

In 2017, Mr Cheng was awarded the Civic Leadership Award by the Changing Young Lives Foundation and the Men of Hope Award by the Hong Kong Adventist Hospital Foundation. In recognition of his contribution to the field of education, Mr Cheng was acknowledged as one of the top 50 educators in the world and awarded the Varkey Foundation Global Teacher Prize.

Dr Eddie Chui (Chemistry, Chinese Medicine)
Dr Eddie Chui is Chief Executive Officer of Diagnostix Group. He graduated from the Department of Chemistry of Hong Kong Baptist College, obtained a Master’s degree in Analytical Biochemistry from University of Dundee, UK, a Doctoral degree in Clinical Biochemistry from The Chinese University of Hong Kong and a Doctoral degree in Traditional Chinese Medicine from Hong Kong Baptist University. He is a Fellow of the Institute of Biomedical Sciences, UK; Fellow, Chartered Chemist and Chartered Scientist of the Royal Society of Chemistry, UK; Registered Part I Medical Laboratory Technologist of Hong Kong Medical Laboratory Technologists Board, accredited Clinical Biochemist of Hong Kong Society of Clinical Chemistry and registered Chinese Medicine Practitioner, among other titles.

Dr Chui taught at the Department of Health Sciences of the Hong Kong Polytechnic prior to establishing the Diagnsotix Group, the first private clinical laboratory in Hong Kong accredited by NATA and RCPA of Australia. Later he set up a Chinese medicine clinic, Modern TCM, and was invited to establish the first NATA-accredited clinical laboratory in Macau. Currently he is an Associate Professor at the Faculty of Health Sciences at Macau University of Science and Technology, Deputy Director of Macau Institute for Applied Research in Medicine and Health, and honorary member of Oncology Group of Chinese Medicine Expert Committee of the Association of Medical and Health Exchanges across the Taiwan Strait.

Dr Chui plays an active role in serving the community. He is the President of the Association of Hong Kong Health Care Professionals and leads the Association to provide health and medical care services in poor rural areas in Mainland China. He is also a guest host of a radio programme which educates the public on ways to maintain good health from Chinese and Western medicine perspectives. In recent years, he has been making house calls to provide free Chinese medicine consultations for older adults who live alone.

Founder of the alumni association Hong Kong Baptist Chemist, Dr Chiu is a Director of the HKBU Foundation. He was also an Honorary Research Fellow of the Institute for the Advancement of Chinese Medicine, a member of the Faculty of Science Advisory Committee and Visiting Lecturer of the Master of Social Work programme of HKBU. He was Member of the Board of Studies of the School of Chinese Medicine of The University of Hong Kong; Member of Internal Validation Panel of HKU SPACE; Member of the Animal Ethics Committee of The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology; Member of Clinical Research Ethics Committee of Macau University of Science and Technology. He also serves as professional and academic adviser of several unions, neighbourhood associations, patient organisations as well as professional and academic associations.

Dr Chui has published 10 books. He is also an academic adviser to several traditional Chinese medicine magazines and websites, and his clinical research papers have been published in international medical journals. He was also field supervisor of Master’s degree students at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University and The Chinese University of Hong Kong.

Ms Kitty Lun (Communication)
Ms Kitty Lun is currently Head of Creative Shop, Greater China, of Facebook. She graduated from the Department of Communication of Hong Kong Baptist College and obtained a Master’s degree in Advertising from Syracuse University in the US. After returning to Hong Kong, she embarked on an advertising career and assumed senior positions such as executive creative director and president at international agencies including Leo Burnett, McCann and Euro RSCG.

She was the Chief Executive Officer of an Asian women’s website miclub.com, Managing Director and Executive Creative Director of Arnold Worldwide, and Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Lowe China. Under her leadership, Lowe achieved tremendous business growth in the Mainland and Hong Kong and became the most awarded agency in China in 2014 and 2015.

Kitty Lun is highly recognised for her achievements in the advertising arena. In the 1990s, she was named Queen of Public Service Advertising in Hong Kong for producing the most public service advertisements, including the well-known Fight Youth Crime “No Take 2” and ICAC campaigns. In addition, she won the title of Top 10 Distinguished Advertising Women of the Year many times and received the 2005 New York Festivals Lifetime Achievement Award. In 2013, she was honoured by Advertising Age as one of the Women to Watch in Advertising in China. In 2014, Kitty together with her team scooped Cannes Lions Award as well as over 100 creative awards around the world with the “Human Traffic Sign” campaign, which according to the 2014-15 Gunn Report became the world’s most awarded campaign.

Kitty Lun’s outstanding performance was also acknowledged by her alma maters. In 2008, she was awarded the HKBU Distinguished Alumni Communicator Award (Public Relations, Advertising and Communication Category) and in 2015 she was named one of the 50 most accomplished alumni of S I Newhouse School of Public Communications of Syracuse University.

Renowned for her creative work, Kitty Lun received multiple accolades in Hong Kong, Mainland China, Taiwan, Asia-Pacific and at international competitions. She frequently receives invitations to serve as juror or president of the jury of creative awards in Hong Kong, Mainland China, Taiwan, Singapore, Korea, Thailand, Indonesia, the United States and Canada. In addition, she hosted the Cannes Lions forum “Beyond Mad Man: Towards Gender Balance in Creative Roles” and was the Juror of the Press Category at Cannes Lions Festival. Kitty Lun also authored a book “Advertising Without Lipstick” which shares her philosophy and experience in advertising.

Mr Patrick Siu (Geography, Communication)
Mr Patrick Siu, Managing Director of Wellfit Multi-Media Group, has over 30 years of experience in the multimedia industry. After graduating from the Department of Geography of Hong Kong Baptist College, he joined the Variety Show Department of Television Broadcasts Limited (TVB) where he produced programmes such as Jade Solid Gold and Enjoy Yourself Tonight, and directed music videos and programmes for famous singers. Later he served as the Executive Producer of the TVB Variety Show Department, and produced a number of notable mega variety shows and programmes including Splendid Mother Land, Nat Chan The Best Show, Body Talks, TVB Anniversary Gala, and Miss Hong Kong Pageant, which were all well received with good ratings.

Mr Siu founded Wellfit Productions Limited with his fellow partners to produce TV programmes, concerts, mega events and video recording for Chinese-speaking communities around the world. Their productions such as Dragon Boating, James’ Love for Hong Kong, So Good, China à La Li, Nat Around The World and Hong Kong London Connection have become some of the most popular TV programmes acquired by TV stations.

With his rich knowledge and experience in media production, Mr Siu spares no effort in giving back to his alma mater and society. Mr Siu has been a guest lecturer of the School of Communication of HKBU and produced mega events in celebration of HKBU’s 50th, 55th and 60th anniversaries as well as the 14th Global Chinese Universities Student Film and Television Festival for the Academy of Film. In addition, Mr Siu founded the Sounds Great project which produces audio books of celebrity interviews, pop music and literary classics to benefit over 20,000 elderly people. This meaningful project was recognised by the Home Affairs Department of the HKSAR Government and was recommended for the Enhancing Self-Reliance Through District Partnership Programme. 

Always keeping abreast of the ever-changing multimedia industry, Mr Siu exemplifies life-long learning. He obtained a Master’s degree in Media Management at HKBU and is now taking the Doctor of Business Administration Programme at HKBU.









2017年,鄭先生榮獲「成長希望基金會」頒發公民領袖獎,以及港安醫院慈善基金頒發的「Men of Hope」奬項。為表揚鄭先生對教育作出的貢獻,瓦爾基基金會向鄭先生頒授國際教師獎,使他躋身為全球50位傑出教育家之一。





倫潔瑩現任Facebook Creative Shop大中華區主管。她畢業於香港浸會學院傳理系,其後在美國紐約雪城大學取得廣告學碩士學位,回港後開始從事廣告創作,先後在李奧貝納、麥肯、靈智等跨國廣告公司擔任執行創作總監及總裁等要職。


倫潔瑩在廣告界成就非凡。她是香港1990年代最多產的公益廣告創作人,被譽為「公益廣告之母」,其膾炙人口的作品包括《生命冇Take 2》、《香港勝在有ICAC》等。她獲獎無數,曾多次獲頒十大傑出女廣告人獎,以及於2005年獲紐約廣告節終身成就獎等。2013年,她獲美國《廣告時代》雜誌評為年度中國女廣告人之一。2014年,她帶領團隊以Human Traffic Sign廣告項目在法國康城贏得金獅獎項,並在全球眾多創意獎中贏得超過100個獎項,成為2014-15年度Gunn Report中全球獲獎最多的作品。工作以外,倫潔瑩卓越的表現同樣獲母校肯定。她於2008年獲香港浸會大學頒發傑出傳理人(公關廣告傳播)獎,2015年獲美國紐約雪城大學SI Newhouse School of Public Communications選為50位傑出畢業生之一。
