The United Board for Christian Higher Education in Asia has worked for nearly a century to support the development of whole person education and Christian values in colleges and universities throughout Asia. Working across borders and cultures, the organisation has both reflected its times and striven to transcend them by seeking common purpose with educators from vastly different backgrounds.
In her talk, Dr Chapman will focus on several pivotal moments in the United Board’s history that reveal both the challenges and rewards of international educational exchange.
Dr Nancy Chapman is President of the United Board for Christian Higher Education in Asia, a foundation that supports the development of higher education in 15 countries and regions in Asia.
A graduate of Yale University and Princeton University in the US, Dr Chapman has worked in the fields of higher education, philanthropy and non-profit management for almost 40 years, with more than 10 years of residence and work in Asia. Most of her working life has been devoted to the advancement of higher education and cultural exchange among countries in Asia and between Asia and the US.
Dr Chapman previously held positions with responsibility for Asia projects with the Institute of International Education, the Lingnan Foundation, and the Rockefeller Brothers Fund. She also twice held teaching positions at The Chinese University of Hong Kong, and served for 14 years as Executive Director of the Yale-China Association. .
Dr Chapman assumed the presidency of the United Board in 2011.
