“Small World, Big Data” HKBU to hold 2017 Science Festival and Open Day on Thursday

「小世界·大數據」浸大理學院科學節及開放日周四舉行

In the Big Data Era, enormous and complex data sets are found everywhere including in the weather forecast system, online search engines, social media and even in stock investment. How does the application and analysis of big data affect our life, economy, society and science?

The Faculty of Science of Hong Kong Baptist University (HKBU) has chosen “Small World, Big Data” as this year’s theme for its Science Festival. Activities will include an Open Day on 6 July, an array of talks and a Data Treasure Hunt Competition. The objective of the event is to arouse secondary school students’ awareness of the importance of big data in our daily life and encourage them to discover more applications for big data.

The event is open to the public and admission is free. Details are as follows:
