DBA student named APEC Young Women Innovator

Ms. Karen Chan, student of the Doctor of Business Administration programme, was honoured as a Young Women Innovator at the 2013 Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Women and the Economy Forum in Bali, Indonesia, early in September. One of two award recipients from Hong Kong, Karen was recognised for her outstanding contribution to corporate development, marketing promotion and brand building.

Currently Vice President and Executive Director of German Pool, Karen had more than 10 years of solid experience in multinational corporations. She was innovative in marketing and branding and successfully developed German Pool into a well-known brand for premium electrical appliances, kitchen cabinetry and equipment both in the Hong Kong and overseas markets.

The title of Women Innovator was introduced by APEC in 2011 as an initiative to recognise successful female technologists, entrepreneurs and innovators aged 40 or below, whose contributions have opened wider opportunities for other women to participate in the economy. The theme of this year’s forum was “Women as Economic Drivers”.
