HKBU presents Dream of the Red Chamber Award to Mainland author Liu Qing

浸大今日舉行「紅樓夢獎」頒獎典禮 內地作家劉慶小說《唇典》獲首獎

HKBU today presented the grand prize of the 7th Dream of the Red Chamber Award to Mainland author Mr Liu Qingfor his novel History through Words.

Mr Liu was delighted to receive the award. He said that History through Words is his fourth novel, it took him five years of preparation and another 10 years to compose. The book described a hundred years of history of the Northeast China region through the word of mouth of the Manchu’s Shaman divine songs. He hoped that the novel would create a new narrative structure to view human nature from a different perspective, injecting divine, rational, and poetic elements with a tinge of bravery and righteousness, and showing compassion and grief at the same time.

浸會大學今天舉行第七屆「紅樓夢獎:世界華文長篇小說獎」頒獎典禮,頒發首獎予小說《唇典》的作者劉慶先生。

劉慶先生對作品獲得首獎表示高興,他說,《唇典》是他的第四部長篇小說,構思五年後才動筆,寫作又歷時十年。「《唇典》引用口口相傳之意,以一個薩滿神歌的講述方式,寫了中國東北近百年的歷史……在寫作中,我希望《唇典》能夠因為接引和借助神明和神靈的力量,讓小說有一個新的敘事系統,換一個視角看人生,多一些神性、理性、血性和詩性,多一些悲憫和憂傷,還有人性和未來的力量。」
