HKBU to confer Honorary University Fellowships on six distinguished persons

浸大頒授榮譽大學院士予六位傑出社會人士

HKBU announced today (26 July) the conferment of Honorary University Fellowships on six distinguished persons in recognition of their outstanding contributions and support to society.
 
The six Honorary University Fellowship recipients are: Mr Cheng Sing-yip (鄭成業先生), Dr Polly Cheung Suk-yee (張淑儀醫生), Ms Quince Chong Wai-yan (莊偉茵女士), Mr Francis Law Sau-fai (羅守輝先生), Mr Tsang Wing-wah (曾永華律師) and Dr David Wong Yau-kar (黃友嘉博士). The conferment ceremony will be held at the Convocation on 4 September.
 
Mr Cheng Sing-yip
 
Mr Cheng Sing-yip is the School Manager of Pui Ching Middle School and The Hong Kong Sze Yap Commercial and Industrial Association Wong Tai Shan Memorial College.
 
A graduate of The University of Hong Kong, Mr Cheng has devoted his life’s work to education. He was the Vice-Principal of Ho Lap College before he became the Founding Principal of The Hong Kong Sze Yap Commercial and Industrial Association Wong Tai Shan Memorial College. Before he retired, he was the Principal of Pui Ching Middle School for 12 years.
 
As a community leader, Mr Cheng has contributed to various organisations. He is a member of the Councils of The Baptist Convention of Hong Kong and The Hong Kong Chinese Christian Churches Union. He served on the Council of the Hong Kong Red Cross, the Board of Directors of Hong Kong Baptist Hospital and as Chairperson of Baptist Oi Kwan Social Service. He also contributed to Breakthrough Limited, the Consumer Council and Fight Crime Committee. 
 
Mr Cheng has been a long-time supporter of HKBU. He served the University for over 20 years on its Board of Governors, the Council and the Court, and witnessed the transition from Hong Kong Baptist College to HKBU in 1994. 
 
 
Dr Polly Cheung 
 
Dr Polly Cheung is a leading breast cancer specialist who is highly regarded in the field. She is an ardent advocate and leader in the promotion of breast cancer education, patient support and research in Hong Kong. 
 
She initiated breast conserving surgery and breast reconstruction in Hong Kong, and launched the city’s first breast-screening programme. She founded the Hong Kong Breast Cancer Foundation which advocates holistic cancer care, and provides extended cancer care to patients.  She set up a community-based Breast Health Centre, providing mammogram screening at a reduced fee or free of charge to middle- and low-income women in Hong Kong. She also led the launch of Breast Cancer HK Online, a web-based interactive platform of the Hong Kong Breast Cancer Registry, which aims to assist medical professionals in their clinical assessments and decisions through access to information on local disease development and treatment trends.
 
A graduate of The University of Hong Kong, Dr Cheung’s achievements have been recognised with numerous awards and fellowships, including the Honorary Fellowship of Beijing Normal University – Hong Kong Baptist University United International College, the Most Successful Women 2003 Award of JESSICA magazine, and the Outstanding Women Professionals Award of Hong Kong Women Professionals & Entrepreneurs Association. In community service, Dr Cheung had been appointed by the Government of Hong Kong SAR, serving as member on various government bodies in medical, social, and educational fields. 
 
Dr Cheung has made valuable contributions to HKBU and served as a member of the Council and the Court from 2011 to 2016.  She is also Honorary Director of Hong Kong Baptist University Foundation. 
 
 
Ms Quince Chong
 
Ms Quince Chong is Chief Corporate Development Officer, CLP Power Hong Kong Limited, responsible for the company’s marketing, customer service, public affairs and community relations.
 
Ms Chong is a graduate of The Chinese University of Hong Kong with over 30 years of experience in corporate communication and customer service. She held various senior management positions in the tourism, hotel and aviation industries, including the Hong Kong Tourist Association, now known as the Hong Kong Tourism Board. She was the Director of Corporate Affairs at Cathay Pacific Airways Limited before joining CLP. 
 
Ms Chong is well-known for her contributions to public service in a wide range of bodies and organisations, including the Vocational Training Council, Hospital Authority, Central Policy Unit, Council of The Open University of Hong Kong (OUHK), Independent Commission Against Corruption, and Hong Kong Association for Customer Service Excellence. She was named Honorary University Fellow of OUHK and “the 100 Most Important In-house Communicators in the World” in the Holmes Report Influence 100 project, and was awarded the Best Crisis Management Award by the Asian PR Awards.
 
Ms Chong has made significant contributions to HKBU through her dedicated efforts. Besides being a donor, she served as a member of the Council from 2007 to 2012, and is currently a member of the Selection Committee for the Distinguished Alumni Awards.
 
 
Mr Francis Law
 
Mr Francis Law is Executive Director of Toyo Mall Limited.
 
Mr Law is a renowned property investor, and has achieved remarkable success in property investment in Hong Kong. He possesses extensive management experience in the property industry and is well respected for his profound insights on property investment.
 
Mr Law’s success is not simply a matter of career achievements. He has a profound Christian faith and has remained deeply connected to the Chinese identity. In the words of the Lord Jesus: “It is more blessed to give than to receive”. Mr Law is a living embodiment of the truth of this verse. Even with his extremely busy working life, Mr Law has maintained a great personal commitment to philanthropy in Mainland China as well as many developing Asian countries such as the Philippines, Cambodia and Vietnam, and in supporting the Christian community. 
 
Mr Law has offered generous support to the expansion of HKBU’s horizons and capabilities to nurture young people who will become tomorrow’s leaders. He is currently an honorary member of the Court and a member of the Entrepreneur Committee of HKBU Foundation. He had made a generous donation to the University in support of the research project entitled “Research and Development of Innovative Combination Drugs in Traditional Chinese Medicine”, which focuses on new drug discovery for the treatment of rheumatoid arthritis, osteoporosis and bone tumours. To acknowledge Mr Law’s generosity, the institute under the School of Chinese Medicine which conducts the research was named the Law Sau Fai Institute for Advancing Translational Medicine in Bone and Joint Diseases.
 
 
Mr Tsang Wing-wah
 
Mr Tsang Wing-wah is a seasoned solicitor and Director of the Tsang Shiu Tim Charitable Foundation.
 
Mr Tsang is an enthusiastic supporter of social services and has devoted a great deal of effort to the work of the Tsang Shiu Tim Charitable Foundation, which has made donations to many charitable organisations and institutions involved in healthcare, education and culture, among others. The Foundation has attached particular importance to education and has contributed enormously to the development of local universities. 
 
Mr Tsang is also a co-founder of Faith Hope Love Charitable Foundation Limited, which supports education and people in need in the Mainland.
 
HKBU received a generous donation from the Foundation in support of the University’s Campus Master Plan and the promotion of whole person education. In recognition of the Foundation’s generosity, the auditorium located on the second floor of the Academic and Administration Building was named the Tsang Chan Sik Yue Auditorium in memory of Mr Tsang’s late mother. The Foundation also established the Tsang Shiu Tim Endowed Chair of Chinese Medicine Clinical Studies to support world-class scholars in Chinese medicine in conducting advanced clinical research and developing new drugs and treatments to cure serious illnesses.  
 
 
Dr David Wong
 
A distinguished business leader, Dr David Wong is Managing Director of United Overseas Investments Limited. 
 
Dr Wong graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and received a PhD in economics from the University of Chicago, USA. He has made significant contributions to economic and public affairs in Hong Kong over the years, including the advancement of trade and investment, advocacy of a better operating environment for small and medium enterprises, and promotion of labour-employer relations.
 
Dr Wong is dedicated to public service. He is currently Chairman of the Mandatory Provident Fund Schemes Authority, and was Chairman of the Land and Development Advisory Committee, Chairman of the Protection of Wages on Insolvency Fund Board, President of the Chinese Manufacturers’ Association of Hong Kong, and Chairman of the Business & Professionals Federation of Hong Kong.
 
Dr Wong was awarded the Gold Bauhinia Star by the HKSAR Government. He is also an Honorary Fellow of The Vocational Training Council and Lingnan University. He is a Hong Kong Deputy to the National People’s Congress of the People’s Republic of China.
 
Dr Wong has maintained a close link with HKBU as an Adjunct Professor of the School of Business. He also rendered valuable contributions as member of the Council and the Court from 2009 to 2015, and served on the Board of Governors and Entrepreneur Committee of the HKBU Foundation.
 

浸大今日(7月26日)宣佈,頒授榮譽大學院士予六位傑出社會人士,以表揚他們對社會作出的重大貢獻及支持。
 
獲嘉許的六位人士包括鄭成業先生、張淑儀醫生、莊偉茵女士、羅守輝先生、曾永華律師和黃友嘉博士。頒授禮將於9月4日的開學禮上同場舉行。
 
鄭成業先生
 
鄭成業先生是香港培正中學及香港四邑商工總會黃棣珊紀念中學校董。
 
自香港大學畢業後,鄭先生投身教育工作,曾任可立中學副校長、香港四邑商工總會黃棣珊紀念中學創校校長,其後出任香港培正中學校長12年後榮休。
 
鄭先生熱心公共事務,先後擔任多個機構的董事會成員,包括香港浸信會聯會、香港華人基督教聯會、香港紅十字會及香港浸信會醫院,亦曾任浸信會愛群社會服務處主席,以及曾服務突破機構、消費者委員會及撲滅罪行委員會。
 
鄭先生曾出任浸大校董會及諮議會成員長達20多年,見證着浸大的發展,包括香港浸會學院在1994年升格為大學。
 
 
張淑儀醫生
 
張淑儀醫生是香港乳癌治療的權威和先驅,多年來致力推動預防乳癌的教育、病人支援和相關研究。
 
張醫生倡議乳房保留及乳房重建手術,又推出香港首個乳房普查計劃。她創立慈善機構香港乳癌基金會,又成立社區乳健中心,為中低收入婦女提供折扣或免費的乳房X光檢查,並推出網上平台「乳癌在線」,協助醫療專業人士進行臨床評估和決策,了解本地乳癌狀況和治療趨勢等資料。
 
張醫生畢業於香港大學,獲北京師範大學—香港浸會大學聯合國際學院頒授榮譽院士榮銜,並榮膺《旭茉JESSICA》2003成功女性和香港女工商及專業人員聯會傑出專業女性。她亦先後獲政府委任為醫療、社福及教育界別委員會成員的公職。
 
張醫生對推動浸大發展不遺餘力,於2011至2016年間擔任浸大校董會及諮議會成員,現為香港浸會大學基金榮譽會董。
 
 
莊偉茵女士
 
莊偉茵女士是香港中華電力有限公司企業發展總裁,專責公司的市場、客戶服務、公共事務及社區關係。
 
莊女士畢業於香港中文大學,擁有超過30年企業傳訊及客戶服務經驗,曾於香港旅遊協會(現為香港旅遊發展局)和酒店業界出任不同管理要職;加入中電前,莊女士為國泰航空企業事務董事。
 
莊女士熱心社會服務,先後在職業訓練局、醫院管理局、中央政策組、香港公開大學、廉政公署、香港優質顧客服務協會擔任公職。莊女士曾獲香港公開大學頒授榮譽大學院士榮銜,又獲選為全球100名最重要「環球公司內部傳訊主管」,以及獲Asian PR Awards頒發最佳危機管理獎。
 
莊女士一直熱心支持浸大,不但慷慨捐助大學,並於2007至2012年間擔任校董會成員,現為傑出校友獎遴選委員會成員。
 
 
羅守輝先生
 
羅守輝先生是尖東廣場有限公司執行董事。
 
羅先生是知名房地產投資者,擁有豐富的物業管理經驗及超卓的投資眼光,於商界取得輝煌的成就。
 
羅先生並非只在個人事業上有所建樹。他是虔誠的教徒,亦以身為中國人為榮。對於耶穌基督所說的「施比受更為有福」,羅先生篤信力行,即使公務繁忙,他仍堅持為中國內地,以及菲律賓、柬埔寨、越南等發展中國家行善,又積極資助宗教團體。
 
羅先生支持浸大實踐教育理想,培育青年成為社會的未來領袖,現為浸大諮議會榮譽委員,以及香港浸會大學基金企業家委員會委員。他又慷慨捐助中醫藥學院轄下的骨與關節疾病轉化醫學研究所進行「創新組合中藥研究開發計劃」,以針對治療類風濕關節炎、骨質疏鬆及骨腫瘤等疾病作研究,為表揚他的襄助,浸大將該研究所命名為「羅守輝骨與關節疾病轉化醫學研究所」。
 
 
曾永華律師
 
曾永華律師是資深的事務律師及曾肇添慈善基金有限公司董事。
 
曾律師多年來熱心社會服務,並透過曾肇添慈善基金慷慨資助不同服務,範疇涵蓋醫療、教育、文化等。基金特別重視年輕人教育,推動本地大學發展不遺餘力。他更與同學成立信望愛慈善基金,大力支持中國內地的教育及照顧弱勢社群需要。
 
曾肇添慈善基金大力支持浸大發展,包括資助校園總體發展規劃和推行全人教育,為鳴謝基金的支持,大學把位於教學及行政大樓二樓的演講廳命名為「曾陳式如會堂」,以紀念曾律師的母親、已故曾肇添夫人陳式如女士。基金又捐款成立曾肇添中醫藥臨床研究講座教授席,支持世界級中醫學者進行先進臨床研究工作,並開發新藥及研發新的治療方法醫治痼疾。
 
黃友嘉博士
 
黃友嘉博士是知名的商界領袖,現任聯僑遠東有限公司董事總經理。
 
黃博士畢業於美國麥迪遜威斯康辛大學,並在芝加哥大學取得經濟學博士學位。黃博士多年來對香港的經濟和公共事務貢獻良多,包括促進貿易和投資活動、倡議改善中小型企業的營商環境及促進勞資關係等。
 
黃博士熱心服務社會,現任強制性公積金計劃管理局主席,曾任土地及建設諮詢委員會主席、破產欠薪保障基金委員會主席、香港中華廠商聯合會會長、香港工商專業聯會主席等。
 
黃博士獲香港特區政府頒發金紫荊星章,又先後獲職業訓練局和嶺南大學頒發榮譽院士,並出任第12、13屆全國人大代表。
 
黃博士與浸大關係密切,現任工商管理學院客席教授。他於2009至2015年間擔任浸大校董會和諮議會成員,又曾任香港浸會大學基金會董事局和企業家委員會成員。
