浸大公佈第七屆「紅樓夢獎」得獎名單 內地作家劉慶以《唇典》贏得首獎

HKBU announced the winner of the 7th Dream of the Red Chamber Award: The World’s Distinguished Novel in Chinese today (17 July). The prize went to History through Words by Mr Liu Qing from Mainland China. The award presentation ceremony will be held in September.

Born in Jilin Province, China, Mr Liu Qing is the publisher and chief editor of the Huashang Morning News Agency. He started writing poems in 1987 and published his first novel in 1998. Since then, he has written a number of award-winning novels. Published in 2017, History through Words has won several literature awards in Mainland China.

The judges also proposed the Green Cicada by Lian Mingwei and Longing for the Spring Wind by Ge Fei for the Jury Award. The Strange Bedfellows by Liu Zhenyun, Yesterday’s Rain by Wang Dingguo and A Single Swallow by Zhang Ling were Highly Recommended by the judging panel.

The final judging panel comprises Professor Michael Berry of University of California, Los Angeles; Professor Chen Sihe of Fudan University; Professor Chen I-chih of National Taiwan Normal University; Professor Huang Ziping, Honorary Professor of HKBU; Professor Yan Lianke, winner of the 6th Dream of the Red Chamber Award for his novel Death of the Sun, and Professor Chung Ling, Emeritus Professor of HKBU.

Launched by HKBU’s Faculty of Arts in 2006, The Dream of the Red Chamber Award is organised every two years. It aims to encourage the publication of excellent Chinese novels worldwide and to recognise outstanding Chinese novels by writers from around the world to enhance the standard of Chinese novel writing. 浸會大學宣佈,內地作家劉慶先生以小說《唇典》奪得第七屆「紅樓夢獎:世界華文長篇小說獎」首獎,頒奬禮將於今年9月舉行。

第七屆「紅樓夢獎」決審委員會的評語指出:「劉慶的《唇典》是一部氣魄宏大的作品,描寫烏拉雅族人如何在動亂的世界中掙扎求存,調整了自己與人世的關係」,「劉慶還描繪了許多角色。雖然時代混亂、角色繁多,卻能穿針引線,條理分明,人物個個鮮活……小說更呈現了在中蘇邊界上烏拉雅人的村鎮中,多元種族的混合,包括滿人、漢人、俄國人、日本人之間的互動和交流。」「《唇典》是口耳相傳時代留下來的經典,生動地呈現了整個族群,在動盪戰亂中鮮活的人物列像,以及薩滿文化的餘暉和沒落,是一部史詩般的巨構。」

劉慶先生於吉林省出生,畢業於吉林財貿學院統計學專業,現任華商晨報社執行社長、總編輯。劉先生1987年開始發表詩作。1998年出版長篇小說《風過白榆》,2002年出版長篇小說《冰血》。2004年出版的長篇小說《長勢喜人》,被中國小說學會評定為2004年中國小說長篇小說榜的上榜作品。他於2005年出版短篇小說集《信使》。他的長篇小說《唇典》發表於《收穫》雜誌2017年長篇小說春季號,其後獨立出版,獲東北文學獎、長白山文藝獎、吉林文學獎等多種獎項。

此外,獲得第七屆「紅樓夢獎」的「決審團獎」包括連明偉的《青蚨子》和格非的《望春風》,而劉震雲的《吃瓜時代的兒女們》、王定國的《昨日雨水》和張翎的《勞燕》則獲得「專家推薦獎」。

本屆「紅樓夢獎」決審委員包括白睿文教授(Professor Michael Berry)(中文小說英語翻譯家;加州大學洛杉磯分校亞洲語言文化系教授)、陳思和教授(中國現當代文學研究專家;復旦大學圖書館館長)、陳義芝教授(詩人;國立台灣師範大學國文系教授)、黃子平教授(中國現當代文學研究專家;浸大中文系榮譽教授)、閻連科教授(小說家;第六屆「紅樓夢獎」首獎《日熄》作者)和鍾玲教授(小說家及詩人;浸大榮休教授)。
