Mr Mak Shu-kin of Language Centre clinches Biennial Awards for Chinese Literature

語文中心麥樹堅先生榮獲中文文學雙年獎

A collection of essays Glistening Rapids written by Mr Mak Shu-kin, Lecturer of the Language Centre, won the Biennial Award in the Essay Category of the 14th Hong Kong Biennial Awards for Chinese Literature.
 
Glistening Rapids is the third collection of essays written by Mr Mak with all 16 pieces based on his personal experience. “Without the support and encouragement from senior authors, my teachers and friends, I believe I would not have been able to keep up my enthusiasm for writing. I would also like to thank the students who attended my creative writing class as they helped me stay fresh and motivated through the teaching and learning interaction,” said Mr Mak.
 
The Hong Kong Biennial Awards for Chinese Literature is organised by the Hong Kong Public Libraries under the Leisure and Cultural Services Department in recognition of Hong Kong writers' outstanding achievement. Nominations were received for 242 books this year. Following selection and discussion by the adjudicators, two Biennial Awards and seven Recommended Prizes were awarded.
 

語文中心講師麥樹堅先生的散文集《絢光細瀧》最近在「第14屆香港中文文學雙年獎」中,贏得散文組雙年獎。
 
《絢光細瀧》是麥先生第三本散文集,收錄16篇基於真實體會寫成的散文。麥先生說:「如沒有前輩、師長的悉心扶持和好友真誠的互勵互勉,我不可能堅持寫作至今。我還要多謝一眾創作班學生,讓我在教學相長中保持寫作的興致和動力。」
 
香港中文文學雙年獎由康樂及文化事務署香港公共圖書館主辦,旨在表揚本港文學作家的傑出成就。今屆評審團經過嚴格評選和反覆討論,從242本提名作品中,選出兩本書籍頒予雙年獎,另有七本獲頒推薦獎。
