HKBU students receive three honours at the HERDSA symposium in recognition of their innovative ideas for enhancing student learning experience in higher education

HKBU students shine in higher education research symposium

浸大學生揚威高等教育研究研討會

Three HKBU student teams scooped the Championship, Award of Merit, and Participation Award for their outstanding performance in the Higher Education Research and Development Society of Australasia (HERDSA) Symposium held in August. They were selected among 11 competing teams from seven higher education institutions to receive the awards.

In celebration of its 20th Anniversary, the HERDSA Hong Kong Branch launched an award scheme for students. Through the process of proposing and carrying out projects under the theme of “Redesigning Student Learning Experience in Higher Education”, students gained an opportunity to share their needs, ideas and views on optimal arrangements of university education.

A team of eight HKBU students won the Championship with their service learning project entitled “Promoting Integrative Learning through Gansu Sustainable Service”. Using an e-portfolio, they presented their learning experience in a two-week Gansu service programme. The Award of Merit went to another group of HKBU students. The four members studied the global issue of street sleepers in their project entitled “More Love and Care for the Homeless (Street Sleepers)”. Meanwhile, the project “Safe to Survive: Nuclear or Others?” which was carried out by six HKBU students received the Participation Award. They drew up a series of learning activities aimed at inspiring today’s youngsters and cultivating a global mindset.

浸大三支學生隊伍於上月舉行的Higher Education Research and Development Society of Australasia (HERDSA) 研討會上表現出色,在來自七所高等院校的11支參賽隊伍中脫穎而出,贏得冠軍、優異獎和最佳參與獎三個獎項。

為慶祝學會20周年紀念,HERDSA香港分會特別舉辦了一項獎勵計劃,讓學生以「Redesigning Student Learning Experience in Higher Education」為題構思富創意特色的項目,以重塑學生的高等教育學習體驗為目標,希望同學能透過比賽分享他們對如何優化大學教育的需求、意念和觀點。

其中八位浸大同學以電子學習檔案形式,分享他們在甘肅進行兩星期服務計劃的學習體驗,他們的項目「Promoting Integrative Learning through Gansu Sustainable Service」贏得比賽冠軍。優異獎由另外四位浸大同學組成的隊伍奪得,他們的項目「More Love and Care for the Homeless (Street Sleepers)」主要探討露宿者的國際課題;而另外六位學生的團隊項目「Safe to Survive: Nuclear or Others?」則獲頒發最佳參與獎。項目是透過一系列學習活動,啟發時下年輕一輩以培育他們的國際思維。
