HKBU co-organises Forum on Development of Traditional Chinese Medicine & Conference on Bone and Joint Diseases

浸大合辦中醫中藥發展論壇暨骨與關節疾病學術大會

Around 30 renowned mainland Chinese medicine experts as well as local Chinese medicine experts in bone and joint diseases delivered inspiring talks and shared their wealth of clinical experience at the Third Forum on Development of TCM (Hong Kong) & Academic Conference on Bone and Joint Diseases held on the HKBU campus on 16 and 17 July.
   
The gathering is co-organised by HKBU, the Taiwan, Hong Kong and Macao Chinese Medicine Exchange and Cooperation Centre, the State Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine (SATCM) of the People’s Republic of China, and the Specialty Committee of Bone and Joint Diseases of the World Federation of Chinese Medicine Societies (WFCMS). Co-hosts of the forum are the Hong Kong TCM Orthopaedic and Traumatic Association, the Hong Kong Association of Traditional Chinese Medicine, and the School of Chinese Medicine (SCM) of HKBU. The objective of the forum was not just to enlighten the audiences about advances in this area of Chinese medicine but also to promote its further development in Hong Kong.

The theme of the forum is “Chinese medicine treatment for bone and joint diseases: inheritance, innovation and development.” The forum attracted some 600 government officials, scholars and leading figures in the Chinese medicine sector from the Chinese mainland and Hong Kong, local experts in bone and joint diseases, registered Chinese medicine practitioners as well as faculty members, students and alumni of SCM.
   
The officiating party of today’s opening ceremony included Director of the Department of International Cooperation (Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan Affairs Office) of SATCM Ms Wang Xiaopin, Director of the Taiwan, Hong Kong and Macao Chinese Medicine Exchange and Cooperation Centre of SATCM Professor Yang Jinsheng, Secretary for Food and Health of the HKSAR Government Professor Sophia Chan, Director of Health of the HKSAR Government Dr Constance Chan, Dean of HKBU’s SCM Professor Lyu Aiping, Vice Secretary-General of WFCMS Professor Chen Lixin, Deputy Director-General of the Coordination Department of the Liaison Office of the Central People’s Government in the HKSAR Mr Zhang Fang, as well as representatives of the co-organisers and supporting organisations.

In his speech, Professor Lyu Aiping said that orthopaedics and traumatology are an integral part of Chinese medicine. With their proven efficacy in bone setting manipulation in relieving bone and joint pains, orthopaedics and traumatology are a core speciality in mainland Chinese medicine hospitals. The forum was organised to provide experts and scholars with a platform to conduct exchanges and discuss ways and means of promoting the development of orthopaedics and traumatology.

約30位來自內地多間中醫藥大學與中醫院的專家學者和本港的中醫骨傷專家於7月16至17日雲集浸大校園,於「第三屆中醫中藥發展(香港)論壇暨骨與關節疾病學術大會」上發表演說,分享他們積累數十年的治療骨與關節疾病的專業知識及豐富臨床心得。

論壇由浸會大學、國家中醫藥管理局對台港澳中醫藥交流合作中心與世界中醫藥學會聯合會骨關節疾病專業委員會聯合主辦,香港中醫骨傷學會、香港中醫學會、浸大中醫藥學院共同承辦,以「中醫藥治療骨關節疾病的繼承、創新與發展」為主題,藉此提升與會人士對該範疇的認識,進一步促進中醫藥在香港的發展。論壇吸引了約600人參加,包括內地及香港相關政府部門人員、學者、中醫中藥業界領軍人士、香港的骨與關節疾病專家、註冊中醫師,以及浸大中醫藥學院的師生和校友。

主持開幕儀式的嘉賓包括國家中醫藥管理局國際合作司司長兼港澳台辦公室主任王笑頻司長、國家中醫藥管理局對台港澳中醫藥交流合作中心主任楊金生教授、香港特區政府食物及衞生局局長陳肇始教授、香港特區政府衞生署署長陳漢儀醫生、香港浸會大學中醫藥學院院長呂愛平教授、世界中醫藥學會聯合會副秘書長陳立新教授、中央人民政府駐香港特別行政區聯絡辦公室協調部副部長張方先生,以及承辦單位、協辦單位及支持單位的代表。

呂愛平院長在致辭時說,中醫骨傷學科是中國醫學的重要組成部分,也是內地醫院的重點專科,中醫正骨手法治療骨關節疼痛具有顯著的效果。舉辦是次論壇旨在為中醫骨傷科的專家學者提供交流平台,共同推動骨傷科的發展。
