HKBU Academy of Film and Airport Authority join hands to promote Hong Kong film culture

浸大電影學院與機場管理局合作 推廣香港電影文化

HKBU’s Academy of Film (AF) in the School of Communication and the Airport Authority (AA) of Hong Kong teamed up to organise an exhibition themed “Cinema Fantasia Hong Kong”. It is the first time that crucial areas of the local film industry have been showcased at Hong Kong International Airport, promoting the uniqueness of Hong Kong’s film culture to tourists from around the world as well as to Hong Kong residents.

“Cinema Fantasia Hong Kong”, one of the key features of the “Art, Culture and Music at the Airport 2017” event, is being held at the Arrivals Hall A in the airport’s Terminal 1 from 6 July to 12 November. The exhibition showcases the achievements of Hong Kong’s film industry over the years. It also includes AF’s introduction to the Academy’s development, programmes and activities and shows students’ award-winning films. Furthermore it exhibits the trophies presented at the Hong Kong Film Awards, an interactive photo-taking zone, and the creative works of photographer Jupiter Wong and poster designer Yuen Tai-yung.

Professor Eva Man, Acting Director of the Academy, said that over the past four decades, the School of Communication has provided pioneering and diversified programmes on film, television and creative media. It has also trained more than 2,000 film and television professionals whose remarkable achievements have advanced the development of film and television. She added that AF was invited by the AA to demonstrate Hong Kong’s film culture, history and education to overseas tourists and Hong Kong residents, thereby not only promoting Hong Kong’s film culture to the world but also recognising AF’s distinguished contribution to the industry.

The officiating guests at the opening ceremony of the “Art, Culture and Music at the Airport 2017” yesterday included Secretary for Transport and Housing Mr Frank Chan, AA Chairman Mr Jack So, Chairlady of the AA’s Art and Culture Advisory Committee Ms Anita Fung, and AA Chief Executive Officer Mr Fred Lam. HKBU Provost Professor Clayton MacKenzie, Vice-President (Teaching and Learning) Dr Albert Chau, Associate Vice-President (Engagement) Mr Yeung Chee-Kong and Professor Eva Man also attended to demonstrate the University’s support for the initiative.
