SCM co-organises Cross-strait Four-region Chinese Medicine Forum


The “Cross-strait Four-region Chinese Medicine (Hong Kong) Forum 2016”, organised by the Exchange Centre for Taiwan, Hong Kong and Macau, State Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine of the People’s Republic of China and co-organised by Pok Oi Hospital and the School of Chinese Medicine (SCM) of HKBU, was held on campus on 28 and 29 May. A total of 17 experts comprising mainland and local government officials, scholars, researchers and leading figures in the Chinese medicine sector from the Chinese mainland, Taiwan, Macau and Hong Kong were invited to share their rich experiences and invaluable insights on the development of Chinese medicine.

Officiating at the Forum were Mr Yang Rongchen, Deputy Head, Department of Policies and Regulations, State Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine; Professor Yang Jinsheng, Director of the Exchange Centre for Taiwan, Hong Kong and Macau, State Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine; Dr Ko Wing-man, Secretary for Food and Health, HKSAR Government; Dr Constance Chan, Director of Health, HKSAR Government; Dr Eric Ziea, Chief of Chinese Medicine and Integrative Medicine, Hospital Authority; Mrs Chan Li Lei, Chairman, Board of Directors, Pok Oi Hospital; Professor Roland Chin, President and Vice-Chancellor of HKBU; and Professor Lu Aiping, Dean of Chinese Medicine of HKBU. 

Speaking at the ceremony, Dr Ko Wing-man said he believes that academic exchange of professionals and practitioners in Chinese medicine in the four regions could help boost the development of the healthcare industry and benefit the people on either side of the strait.

The two-day Forum, attended by more than 460 participants comprising faculty members, students, alumni and professionals from the industry as well as local Chinese medicine practitioners, provided a platform for academic and professional exchange between the four regions to advance the development and promote the internationalisation of Chinese medicine.

由國家中醫藥管理局對台港澳中醫藥交流合作中心主辦、博愛醫院與浸大中醫藥學院協辦的「2016年兩岸四地中醫中藥發展 (香港) 論壇」於5月28至29日在校園舉行,17位來自內地、台灣、澳門和香港的相關内地和本地政府官員、學者、科研人員、中醫與中藥業界領軍人士應邀演講,與出席人士分享他們對中醫藥發展的寶貴經驗和真知灼見。
