Chinese medicine PhD students grab half the Dragon Culture TCM Scholarships won by HK students

中醫藥學院兩名博士研究生喜獲「龍的文化傳統中醫獎學金」

Marcus Gadau and Liang Chao, two PhD students of the School of Chinese Medicine (SCM), were presented the Dragon Culture TCM Scholarship from the Dragon Culture Charity Fund in recognition of their excellence in and passion for research on Chinese medicine. They are two of the four Scholarship recipients in Hong Kong for 2015.
 
Marcus won the Scholarship for his research entitled “Study of acupuncture treatment for lateral elbow pain in an international collaborative setting” while Liang Chao was awarded the Scholarship for his research entitled “Aptamer-functionalised lipid nanoparticles targeting osteoblasts as a novel RNA interference-based bone anabolic strategy”. Both of them felt honoured to be presented with the Scholarship and were delighted that the Charity Fund recognised their research endeavours. Marcus thanked his principal supervisor Dr Zhang Shiping and his co-supervisor Professor Bian Zhaoxiang for their guidance in his research while Liang Chao expressed sincere gratitude to his principal supervisor Dr Zhang Ge and co-supervisor Professor Lu Aiping.
 
Professor Lu Aiping, Dean of SCM, said that HKBU attaches great importance to postgraduate education and SCM has made considerable progress in facilitating the development of research postgraduate students. The School has nurtured outstanding postgraduate students, with many of them winning awards in international conferences. Professor Lu expressed his hope for the School to further strengthen its ties with the Dragon Culture Charity Fund and join hands to promote and advance the development Chinese medicine, an important component of Chinese culture.
 
The scholarship presentation ceremony also marked the establishment of the Graduate Student Association of SCM, HKBU, whose formation was initiated by the postgraduate students of the School. The Association aims to serve as a platform for exchanges among postgraduate students as well as to foster friendship, learning culture and scholarship among the postgraduate community.

中醫藥學院兩名博士研究生馬克思同學和梁超同學榮獲龍的文化慈善基金頒發「龍的文化傳統中醫獎學金」,表揚他們對中醫藥研究的熱忱和優秀表現。他們是本年度獲頒該獎學金的全港四名得主的其中兩位。
 
馬克思同學和梁超同學分別就他們的出色研究「國際合作針灸治療網球肘的研究」和「適配子功能化的成骨小核酸納米材料對骨形成能力下降疾病的治療研究」,獲頒發獎學金。他們對獲頒獎學金表示榮幸,並對其研究成果獲得龍的文化慈善基金肯定感到欣慰。馬克思同學感謝他的導師張世平博士與副導師卞兆祥教授的悉心指導,梁超同學也對他的導師張戈博士和副導師呂愛平教授表達誠摯的謝意。
 
中醫藥學院院長呂愛平教授表示,浸會大學非常重視研究生教育,學院在研究生教育等方面都有長足發展,所培養的研究生非常優秀,在多個國際會議上屢獲殊榮。呂教授希望學院能與龍的文化慈善基金建立更密切的聯繫,一起為弘揚中國文化重要一環的中醫藥而努力。
 
此外,中醫藥學院在獎學金頒授典禮上並舉行香港浸會大學中醫藥學院研究生聯誼會成立儀式,該組織由研究生社群倡議成立,旨在為學院的研究生提供互相溝通和交流的平台,以及促進友誼、學習及研究氛圍。
