HKBU scholars win Hong Kong Golden Book Awards

A Private Domain, a Chinese prose collection of Dr Chu Siu-cheung, Senior Lecturer of the Language Centre, has won the “Best Book Award” in the literature, history and philosophy category of the second Hong Kong Golden Book Award. Another book A Photo Collection: Hong Kong People’s Livelihood 1950-1970, jointly authored by Professor Chow Kai-wing, Professor Chung Po-yin and Dr Wong Man-kong of the Department of History (with Mr Chung Man-lurk), also clinched the “Best Book Award” in the illustrative book category.

A Private Domain is a collection of Dr Chu’s essays which deliberates his views on life, art, taste and value; while A Photo Collection: Hong Kong People’s Livelihood 1950-1970 illustrates the livelihood of the general public during the post-war period with descriptions by the three history professors.

Hong Kong Golden Book Awards is jointly organised by the Hong Kong Tradebook Publishers Association and Plaza Hollywood. This year, all awarded books were nominated by publishers and voted by readers and the jury panel members.
